Schedule Maintenance Definition

The Schedule Maintenance feature allows businesses to plan, track, and manage maintenance activities for specific products in their rental or inventory system. By scheduling maintenance, the system automatically:

  • Blocks the product from being booked during the maintenance period (to avoid double-booking).
  • Ensures the correct SKU and product details are attached, so staff can identify and track the exact item undergoing maintenance.
  • Keeps a record of the maintenance activity for future reference, audits, or reporting.

This improves operational efficiency, reduces downtime surprises, and ensures that only well-maintained products are rented out to customers.

Example:

Suppose a ski rental shop notices one of their Rossignol Sender 90 Pro skis has a damaged binding.

  1. The shop manager uses the Schedule Maintenance feature.
  2. They select the specific product SKU (e.g., RS90P-2025-007).
  3. They block it for maintenance from March 5th to March 7th.
  4. During this time, the ski will not be available for booking in the system.
  5. Once maintenance is completed, the ski is marked as available again.

This prevents customers from accidentally booking an unsafe or unavailable product.
