A category is a way of organizing products in a structured hierarchy. A parent category is the main grouping, which can contain one or more child categories. Each child category represents a more specific type within the parent category and holds the actual inventory items. This structure helps in managing, searching, and filtering products efficiently.
- Parent Category – Main classification (e.g., Accessories).
- Child Category – Sub-classification under a parent (e.g., Helmet, Lock etc).
Borrow Group
Definition:
Items that are rented for free. After use, customers must return the equipment. Inventory is not tracked.
Example:
- Parent Category: Safety Gear
- Child Category: Helmets (no SKU tracking)
- Child Category: Reflective Vests
Here, the system does not monitor the quantity in stock — it only records that the item was borrowed.
